On November 18th, the Alberta Government announced the end of Alberta Health Services as a health authority to a service delivery provider. Now, Acute Care Alberta will be tasked with the responsibility of being Alberta’s provincial acute care health agency. To support the transition, the Acute Care Provincial Health Agency Executive Transition Team has been struck.

This team will include external special advisor, Dr. Chris Eagle. A cardiac anaesthesiologist by trade, Dr. Eagle is also the former president and chief executive officer of Alberta Health Services – a role he held in both an acting and permanent capacity from 2010 to 2013. Prior to the formation of AHS, he held senior roles in the former Calgary Health Region from 1999 to 2008.

He is currently the board chair of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. In this new role, he will be responsible for providing insight and expertise that will support the transition to Acute Care Alberta.
