Katarzyna (Kasha) Piquette was recently named Alberta’s Deputy Minister for the portfolio of Environment and Protected Areas.

Piquette graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics, completing an international MBA program amongst her numerous professional designations. She has a strong financial acumen and has served as a senior leader in the fin-tech space both in Canada and internationally and as a Director for Financial and Business Services Investments with Invest Alberta. With her experience concentrated almost solely in the private sector, Piquette brings a fresh perspective to the Alberta Public Service.

With over 20 years of international leadership experience in governance, finance, and capital markets with special interest in ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance), Piquette will be an asset to help develop the government wide ESG strategy. With the goal of developing this strategy being to gain and maintain the confidence of investors, her ability to attract those looking for ambitious growth while still pursuing the highest standards of ESG performance is crucial as Alberta moves forward.
