Key Influencer: Megan McCaffery - Chief of Staff to the Ministry of Affordability and Utilities

Megan McCaffery is Chief of Staff for the Ministry of Affordability and Utilities, replacing Jon Dziadyk, who departed the ministry in June 2024.

McCaffery has a partisan background, formerly running as a candidate in Calgary-Elbow for the Wildrose Party in 2015, and in 2018 failed to win a nomination race for the UCP in the riding of Calgary-Buffalo.

McCaffery’s other past roles are similarly political. She formally served as the Executive Director of Common-Sense Calgary, a non-affiliated advocacy group that pushes for libertarian and fiscally conservative policies at the municipal level. She additionally has experience as Director of Operations of the Alberta Institute, a libertarian-leaning think tank based in Calgary. Her husband, Peter McCaffery, founded the Alberta Institute with support from the Manning Center, now named the Canada Strong & Free Network.
