Key Influencer – Brandy Cox – Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs

With over a decade of experience in the ministry under her belt, Brandy Cox was appointed Deputy Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs on May 21, 2021. She has occupied numerous different roles with the Government of Alberta since starting with Municipal Affairs in 2003, including executive roles at 4 departments.

In 2015, Brandy departed from Municipal Affairs to work as Executive Director of External Relations Sector with Alberta Advanced Education. That same year, she started as Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of Economic Policy in Executive Council and Executive Director of Cabinet Coordination Office.  Between 2017 and 2019, Brandy was ADM of Corporate Strategies and Services in Infrastructure. From 2019 until immediately prior to her appointment as Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs, Brandy was Acting ADM of Shared Services and ADM of Consumer, Registry, and Strategic Services at Service Alberta.

Brandy holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and Government from York University, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Brock University, as well as a Certificate in Applied Land Use Planning from the University of Alberta.
